Growing a Disney pin trading account into a 111-million-reach news desk.
1 February to 18 September 2026, Instagram only. Followers grew from 21,131 to 85,610 while output scaled from 8 posts a month to 1,105, and engagement rate held between 6.7 and 9.5 percent the whole way.
Engagement rate is measured against accounts reached. Against total followers, Social Blade reports 0.31%. Both are correct, they answer different questions.
Strategy
A wide door into a narrow market
Pin trading is a small, deep niche sitting entirely inside the much larger world of Disney fandom. The account enters through the wide category, park news, film coverage, merch, builds reach there, and routes attention to the pin content the product is actually built on. Pin trading grew out of trading boards and cast member lanyards, so anyone following park news is already standing where it happens.
This method was proven once before, on DreamTable, and the difference between the two outcomes is the whole insight. That Instagram grew from 0 to nearly 40,000 followers in months. The growth worked. Downloads didn't follow, because the content never bridged to what the app actually did. On @pintradingapp, broad Disney content still does the reach work, but pin releases now sit alongside it with a path from one to the other.
Systems before volume
A calendar that fills its own gaps beats a person remembering to post. Build the machinery first, then scale into it.
Verified, not assumed
If a number can't be checked at source, it doesn't go in a report. Estimates are labelled as estimates.
Publish fast enough to own the cycle
On a news-led account, being first is most of the reach.
Built to hand over
Everything is documented. If I stop, the team keeps the system.
Output
Sample posts
Breaking news is 52 percent of output and carries most of the reach. Thirteen from the run.

Engagement from the talent itself. The feeds cover Disney, Pixar and animation history, and the people who made them noticed.

Reach into the community it came from: voice actors, cast, and Disney's own accounts engaging with posts about the characters they created.

Verified resale data
A fortnightly report ranks the highest Disney pin sales on eBay, checked against sold listings rather than taken at asking price. In the window of 1 to 14 September 2026: 19 pins cleared $1,000, for $31,507.89 in verified sales, averaging $1,658.31. Nine listings were overstated by a combined $1,984.98.
Checked against sold listingsEditorial judgment
Pin Trivia, a recurring series, was cut from 38 posts in July to 2 in September. Sourcing couldn't keep it accurate, so it was killed rather than published on thin evidence.
